The main attraction is the Kedarnath Temple, which is accessible from Gaurikund via a trek of around 16 kilometers (10 miles). The temple opens in April-May and closes on the day of Bhai Dooj (around October-November). The temple is made of large stone slabs and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. It is believed that Lord Vishnu meditated here under the Badri tree, surrounded by the majestic Neelkanth peak. Devotees take a dip in the holy water before entering the temple. Yamunotri holds immense religious importance as it is believed to be the abode of the goddess Yamuna, who is considered the sister of Lord Yama, the god of death. The main attraction is the Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. The temple opens on auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya and closes on the day of Diwali in October or November. Pilgrims trek through picturesque landscapes to reach the temple and offer prayers to the deity. Apart from the temple, Yamunotri is known for its hot springs, called the Surya Kund and Gauri Kund. The journey to Yamunotri involves a trek of approximately 6 kilometers from Janki Chatti, the base camp. Gangotri is the origin of the holy River Ganga (Ganges) and is located at an elevation of around 3,100 meters (10,200 feet) above sea level. The Gangotri Temple is the primary pilgrimage site, dedicated to Goddess Ganga. The temple usually opens on Akshaya Tritiya in April-May and closes on Diwali. Gangotri is believed to be the place where Goddess Ganga descended to Earth from Lord Shiva's locks. Devotees undertake a pilgrimage to Gangotri to seek the blessings of the goddess and take a dip in the holy waters of the Ganges, which is considered purifying and spiritually rejuvenating. Pilgrims visit the temple to offer prayers, perform rituals, and witness the captivating aarti (worship ceremony) conducted in the evening.
